Hi. I'm Holly Mecher. I have been teaching since 2011. I started my career in Chicago, teaching 6th grade with the Chicago Public School District. I then proceeded to teach young 5’s in East Lansing, Michigan for two years.
I joined the Crane School District in 2014 as a 5th grade teacher at Gowan Science Academy where I was voted First Year Teacher of the Year in 2015, and Intermediate Teacher of the Year in 2016 by my Peers. Crane Schools is where I became a firm believer in the power of student choice in the classroom, and the use of technology as a way for students to express their knowledge and share this knowledge to the world. Holly was selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator for the class of 2017. In 2018, Holly also became a Level 2 Google Certified Educator and a Quizlet Ambassador. In 2020, I joined the Elkhart Community Schools as a 6th grade teacher at Woodland Elementary School. I served as the technology ambassador for the past two school years. When not at school, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring the mid-west with my husband, and cuddling on the couch with my kiddos. I am passionate about Chicago Cubs baseball, running, animals, and student voice. |
